Storms Come (band version)

from Post Scriptum (2016) by Lacklustre Mirror

/

about

The last studio record made by Lacklustre Mirror, and the only finalized song recorded with Olga "Nox" I. The song was recorded by the band's last lineup which split up in 2011.

Nox and b. together performed in the Moscow workshop staging of Rebecca musical in 2009. A lifechanger for them both (and especially for b.), the 10 performances permitted by license from Vereinigte Bühnen Wien Ges.m.b.H. ended just too soon and seemingly abruptly. So this song is a follow-up to those events.

It's hard to be more alive while playing somebody else rather than living your own life, but for some people it's just the way things go.

The song's early version was self-released in Decembered's 2008 album "The Moonwind" (decembered.bandcamp.com/album/the-moonwind). Lyrics were written in late 2009.

lyrics

Somehow I missed the moment
Where the last light had been turned off
The theatre is silent
For how long have I stumbled upon
The story's abrupt end

Full moon's shade on the dark walls
Just like many years ago
The road lies before me
Leading far away only
But where exactly - I don't know

One step
All of sudden the cold winds grow
One step
Yes, I'm scared but I must go

For millenia gods tell us: 'Never look back'
But if I disobey
Shall I turn into a fallen leaf
Rustling astray?

Crumpled papers in my hand
Full of words I've let in all too deep
Now as I have my role played
Let these papers be flying away -
Back, where they belong

One step
All of sudden the cold winds grow
One step
Who am I now and where can I go?

Nothing's new 'neath the moon,
Said the wisest of the wise,
Yet another said no one can
Enter the same river twice

With the raising streams of the disquieted air
They come back to life and stand there in lines -
Those people we tried to revive on the stage,
And indeed they lived on

And their fictious lives - they were trustful much more
Than ever was mine
Now they've come to show me my way
And to bid their good bye,

Before the...

...Storms come
Can you hear their threatening calls?
Storms come!
Storms those come through the walls and souls
Happy dreams, pains of yore, joys and sorrows of yours
A wailing snowstorm shall drown
Turning over the pages in time

And when it's over
Shall we stand kneels deep in snow
Trembling again in the fear of a new day, like before?
With a hopeless grin facing every defeat
Contradicting the commonsense cry when the new hope will dawn?
No...
